Library Budget Cuts Affect Journal Holdings

Faced with a reduction of $350,000 in Library acquisitions, Liaison Librarians met with their respective College Deans to compile a list of print journals that could be dropped from future renewal. Many of the titles are still accessible in electronic format, but there may be embargos which may delay access to the most recent issues.

Help Celebrate Earth Day this April

Once again, the library has a special puzzle to commemorate the event. It is a 3-D Earth Puzzle, and it is generating interest and excitement among students. In fact, individuals and groups of students have steadily worked on it. Within three days it was completed, so we've dismantled it and begun again.

Our thanks to Mr. Mike Franks, husband of our Government Documents Librarian Rita Franks, for providing this great puzzle!

Murphy Bridges, a freshman majoring in Accounting and Computer Science, worked hard to complete the puzzle the first time around. It was especially tricky placing the last few pieces in place.

During the week of April 20-24, 2009, we will be handing out green candy to library patrons as a reminder to "Live Green."

Focus on Latin America

In addition to the Earth Day displays this month, the Library is showing support for the campus-wide program "Shaping the 21st Century: Focus on Latin America." There is a nice display in the glass boxes at the entrance and a table display as you enter the front door. Come take a look at what we have to offer.

March is Women's History Month

In honor of Women's History Month, the library has a display of "First Ladies Through the Years." You can check out their photos and memorable quotes, as well as peruse a few theme-related books.
