The
Alpha Lambda Chapter of Phi Mu fraternity has recently accepted a
challenge. We are challenging ourselves to earn $10,000 for the Children's
Miracle Network (CMN). CMN is Phi Mu Nationals' official philanthropy.
 |
CMN
is a network of over 170 children's hospitals that treat 17
million children annually. These hospitals provide charity care
worth billions every year. Phi Mu's of Louisiana Tech University
are endeavoring to raise money for CMN so that children who
are suffering from cancer, heart defects, diabetes, AIDS, muscular
dystrophy, and accident trauma (to name a few) may have a healthy
life. We are determined to do as much as we can to help these
hospitals provide care for these children. |
Last Spring, the Alpha Lambda chapter held its first ever Golf tournament
for CMN. we raised nearly Two thousand dollars for CMN and had a great
time. The tournament was held at the Ruston Country Club and was organized
by Philanthropy Chair, Shannon Steed. This year the tournament will
be headed by Angie Erwin and is slated to take place in May of 2003.
This Fall, Alpha Lambda is planning a Hula Hoop-A-Thon. On Saturday,
October 12, 2002, Alpha Lambda Phi Mu's will hula hoop from 12 noon
to 12 midnight on the lawn of the Phi Mu house to raise money for
CMN. Each member will be sponsored by solicited patrons for their
hula hoping efforts. Every dollar earned will benefit the children
at Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria, Louisiana,
our local CMN Hospital.
If you would like to sponsor a Phi Mu or make a donation, feel free
to attend the Hula Hoop-a-Thon or send in your donation to our P.O.
Box. Any contribution you make will benefit a child who desperately
deserves a chance to live a healthy and happy life. Phi Mu appreciates
your support!
